Activity 3: Simple Present: For scheduled events and timetables.

Welcome planners and punctual prophets! Time to grab your calendars and tick off future events that are as certain as the clock’s next tick. When events are set in stone—or in this case, inked in schedules and timetables—the Simple Present tense becomes our guide to the future.

The Itinerary Ahead:

The Simple Present isn't just about what's happening now—it’s the precise tool we need for discussing events with a fixed time in the future; those which are on a public timetable or a generally known schedule.
🗓️ Example: “The train departs at 6 p.m. sharp.”

Mark Your Calendars: For pre-planned events and public schedules, we switch from the ever-changing “will” and “going to” to the steady Simple Present.

  • Structure: Subject + Simple Present verb (for the third person singular, don't forget the -s at the end of the verb!)

Example:

  • Prompt: Your flight to Tokyo is on the schedule at the airport. (leave)
  • Response: “My flight to Tokyo leaves at 10 a.m. tomorrow.”
  • Explanation: The departure time is on a public schedule (the airport's timetable), so the Simple Present is used to state the future event.

Instructions:

Respond to each prompt with a sentence using the Simple Present tense to express future actions that are according to a schedule or timetable. Be precise and detailed, as these events are as certain as the next sunrise.
