Your Task 

Imagine you are Alex. Write an email to your aunt, Aunt Laura, to thank her for her recommendation on the study guides. You are to refer to the pictures and information on page 2 for your email.
In your email, include the following key information:

• how her recommendation helped you choose the right study guides
• the impact the study guides have had on your maths performance
• your recent acceptance into the Maths Olympiad club
• what you have included as a gesture of thanks
• when you will see her again

You may reorder the points. Remember to write in complete sentences.

Script:
Dad: Wow, you’ve got the top score on your maths quiz, well done, Son!
Son: Thank you, Dad! The new study guides you and Mum got me have really made a
difference. The tips and strategies inside are so helpful for understanding complicated
problems. Plus, the online access code that came with it lets me practice mock quizzes
which are timed just like the real exam.
Son: It feels like I have my own personal tutor with me whenever I tackle a new topic.
Because of these resources, my confidence in maths has skyrocketed. I'm even thinking of
joining the Maths Olympiad club at school.
Dad: I’m glad the study aids are working out for you. It's important to have the right tools to
succeed.
Son: Absolutely! They’re turning out to be a game-changer. I’m using them every evening
after dinner. Oh, and guess what? I just received the news that I’ve been accepted into the
Maths Olympiad club—it’s so exciting!
Dad: That’s excellent news! The tools are clearly having an impact. You should let your Aunt
Laura know how much her recommendation helped us choose the right guides for you.
Remember how she raved about them last month when we were considering different
options?
Son: That’s right! I owe her a big thanks. Aunt Laura will be back from her business trip to
Europe next month, but I guess I shouldn’t wait until then to tell her.
Dad: Why not give her a call or even better, write her an email? You can tell her all about
your success in the quiz and getting accepted into the club. Plus, you can finally make use of
those e-card templates you found online last week. What do you think?
Son: That sounds perfect, Dad! I’ll do that! Maybe I can also send her some of those
macadamia nuts she loves from our local bakery. They'll be a nice surprise after her long
trip.
