Your Task
Imagine you are Siti Aisyah, President of the Environmental Awareness Club at your school. Write a proposal to Mr. Khoo, the Chairperson of the School Management Committee, to implement sustainable energy solutions in your school. You are to refer to the pictures and information on page 2 for your proposal.
In your proposal, include the following key information:
- The name and aim of the energy consumption survey
- Key insights from the survey findings
- Your proposal for introducing solar panels and planting trees
- The environmental impact of your proposal
- How solar energy and added greenery can be beneficial educational tools
- Anticipated enhancements to the school’s eco-friendliness

Script:
Date: 23rd September, Wednesday Club: Environmental Awareness Club
Boy 1: Good afternoon, team. Our recent survey on our school’s energy consumption is
quite revealing. We’re using much more electricity than necessary, especially with air-
conditioning units.
Girl 4: How can we tackle this issue? Are there alternative cooling systems we might
consider?
Boy 1: Our investigation indicates that the most electricity is consumed by the air-
conditioning units in the older classrooms. These rooms also have poor ventilation, which
means the ACs are on almost constantly.
Boy 2: We could suggest installing solar panels on the school's rooftops. It would be an
efficient way to harness sustainable energy and reduce our reliance on conventional
electricity.
Girl 4: Also, if we plant more trees around those classrooms, the shade could naturally lower
the temperature. This could minimize the use of air-conditioners.
Boy 1: That’s an excellent plan! We could initiate a ‘Go Green with Solar Energy’ project.
This would simultaneously introduce renewable energy to the school and provide an
educational example for students.
Girl 4: I think it’s time to write to the School Management Committee. We need to present
our findings and suggest these eco-friendly improvements.
