Activity 1: Action vs Auxiliary Verbs
Instructions:
Let's practice with an example before you start the activity.
Example Sentence: “We were singing loudly.”
- Read the Sentence: Understand what the sentence is saying.
- Identify the Verb(s): Find the words that show the action or support it.
- Classify the Verb: “Singing” is what “We” are doing = Action verb. “Were” helps to show the action was in the past = Auxiliary verb.
- Write Your Answer: were (Auxiliary), singing (Action)
Remember, the action verb is what someone or something is doing, and the auxiliary verb helps us understand more about the time or way it was done.
